Rotor Teeth
With both carbide and planer knife edge teeth available, as well as an optional depth control rings (DCR), your Fecon head can be designed for your unique situation. Planer knives offer a reduced hp requirement and offer a finer mulch, often preferred in new construction sites and for homeowners, but wear very quickly in rocky soil. Carbide teeth offer resistance to rocks and wear, but require more power than planer knives and process wood into generally larger mulch. Depth control rings, often used with planer knives, allows users to maintain rotor speed more easily as they drive into brush, keeping overall rotor speed more consistent with less operator effort.Maintenance
Regular maintenance of a Fecon mulcher primarily focuses on maintaining proper lubrication of the rotor bearings. These bearings require at least one pump of grease for every hour on the machine, with service every four hours. It is common to perform four pumps of grease in the morning before 4 hours of work. During mid-day, the operator will provide another four pumps of grease before running for four more hours. In addition for lubrication, the v-belt of the mulching head should be inspected daily for proper tightness. 5/16" of deflection with 30 lbs of force in a skid steer mounted Bull Hog is considered proper belt tension. Rotor tools should also be inspected for proper tightness and balance. Abnormal vibrations can be the result of uneven wearing of teeth, potentially damaging the machine if not resolved. Carbide teeth should be expected to last between 300-500 hours in normal use, depending on the level of ground engagement.Warranty
The standard Fecon warranty covers 12 Months/1000 hours, with extended warranties available on request for the full line of mulchers. The Fecon Difference
